A Tribute to Mrs Helen P Mason
It was with great sadness we learned of the Home Call
of Our deepest sympathy goes to James in the loss of his wife of almost 48 years. Helen first trained in Campaigners in 1962 when the Clans at Newtownbreda Baptist Church were formed. In May 1966 she was the first District Chief appointed in Northern Ireland. She then became Area Chief and Organising Secretary and in January 1978 took on the role of Assistant Regional Chief. Her loyalty and devotion to the Lord and the Movement were well known by all who knew her. For many years she not only ran the Girl Inters and Craftsmen Clans in Newtownbreda Baptist but was also involved in Regional Camps and organising all the Northern Ireland Regional Events. Our many memories of Helen include her meticulous attention to detail and her sense of humour. In May 1993 although she officially retired from an active role she maintained a keen interest in and prayed for all our activities both nationally and locally. Past and present Chiefs joined with family and friends for a Thanksgiving Service for her life and witness on Saturday 6th March 2004. After a lifetime of living Unto Him it is a comfort to know that Helen has been called to a higher service and is now in the presence of her Lord. Margaret Palmer |
