Duke
of Edinburgh's Award Scheme |
Campaigners Northern Ireland Region |
Eric now heads up the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award on behalf of Campaigner Youth & Children Ministries. Since 1994 he has been a leader in Coleraine Baptist Campaigners, firstly, Boy Junos and later Boys Inters. He has also been involved with the Award for many years and took on responsibility for it in his own Clan in or around the same year. Eric is passionate about the development of young people and sees the Award as one of the best platforms to enable young people to mature and develop in a safe environment. Nothing gives him greater pleasure than to see his participants receiving their Award Certificates whether at the Campaigner Display or being presented by Prince Philip himself. Eric is also an avid hill walker come mountaineer, having walked or climbed throughout the UK, Ireland and the French Alps. In 2008 he assisted in the leadership of a Gold Expedition to walk part of the Tour du Mont Blanc, and would love to see a group from Campaigners do likewise. His goal is to see a significant increase in the number of Clans offering the Award. Eric holds the Mountain Leader (ML) certificate and is currently completing a Masters in theology through the Irish Baptist College. Eric is more than willing to visit Clans to promote the Award and support those who take up the challenge. He can be contacted at echambers@fsmail.net. |
